Study notes

Jesus tells His followers that they are the light of the world, like a city on a hill that cannot be hidden.

Explanation

Right after calling His disciples "the salt of the earth" (5:13), Jesus calls them "the light of the world". A city built on a hill can be seen from far away. In the same way, the lives of His followers are meant to be seen.
