To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven:Study notes
There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven.
Explanation
This verse introduces the well-known poem of opposites (3:2-8): a time to be born and a time to die, a time to weep and a time to laugh. Life has its seasons, and they are not in our control.
