Study notes

There is more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine who do not need to repent.

Explanation

This ends the story of the lost sheep (15:3-7). Religious leaders complained that Jesus welcomed sinners (15:1-2). Jesus answers that heaven rejoices when even one lost person turns back to God.
